Groundwater pumping in the Big Chino Valley is the single largest threat to the base flow of the Verde River. Pumping by agricultural and residential users will sharply increase unless citizens and local governments act to control the pumping. The Big Chino Water Ranch may export water to Prescott and Prescott Valley. The Longview Pumped Storage Project may consume even more water.
