Groundwater Regulation in Arizona - Legal Pathways for State and Local Conservation Efforts

Groundwater is one of Arizona's most precious and least-understood natural resources. The Citizens Water Advocacy Group (CWAG) will host an informational program regarding groundwater regulation in Arizona on Saturday, September 14, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. Andy McCoy of the Arizona Attorney General’s Office will provide a background on Arizona's complex legal framework for regulating groundwater and lay out options for state and local governments to better protect their groundwater supplies.

Andy McCoy is an energy, environment, and natural resources attorney and consultant for the Arizona Attorney General's Office. Andy attended law school at the University of Texas School of Law in Austin. Before law school, he worked as an energy economist and utility reform advocate. Andy was born and raised in Phoenix.

CWAG develops science-based positions on critical water issues and educates citizens and elected officials on sensible water policies.
