What are our most important water issues? Are the candidates prepared to set water management policy?
The Citizens Water Advocacy Group hosted its 19th annual forum on water issues on June 24 via Zoom. This year the forum was for Prescott's mayor and 3 seats on city council. Unfortunately, due to technical issues, Cathy Rusing was unable to paricipate but she sent us written answers to the questions.
Forum participants discussed a variety of topics including Prescott Water Issues and Priorities, Conservation Planning, Regional Water Planning and The Upper Verde River Watershed Protection Coalition, Water Quality Issues (Arsenic and PFAS), Respect for Citizen Initiatives (Prop 401), Verde River and the Proposed Big Chino Pipeline and Responsible Decisions: Legality vs Wisdom, Paper water vs Sustainable water. CWAG sent these prepared questions to the candidates in advance. You can read the Questions from this link. You can also read the Factual Basis for the Questions, which is relevant to the forum.
CWAG is a local citizens group advocating for a sustainable water future for Prescott and central Yavapai County and for the protection of the beautiful upper Verde River. For more information, call 928-445-4218, or email
